EOSH Module 15
Many workers are injured and killed each year while working in confined spaces. An estimated 60%of the fatalities have been among the would-be rescuers. A confined space can be more hazardous than regular work spaces for many reasons.
After successful learning of this module participants should be able to effectively control the risks associated with working in confined spaces, inclusive of undertaking an appropriate Hazard Assessment and subsequently implementing a Control Program for the workplace.
MODULES OBJECTIVES
After completing this modules, participants will be aware of:
- what a confined spaces is
- the risks of working in a confined space
- why there is risk of fire, explosion, suffocation, poisoning, electrocution, tripping and falling in a confined space
- the preventive measures to be taken before entering a confined space
- the preventive measures to be taken when working in a confined space
- the additional preventive measures to be taken when there are moving parts in the confined space, or in the event of oxygen, other gas bottles or flammable substances existing in the confined space, or in cases of welding operations in the confined spaced.
